Ethical Sourcing

At Cloud Forest we work cooperatively with family farmers in the Tropical Andes of Peru to grow and craft the highest quality cacao for the wellbeing of all people and the planet. We share these vibrant flavors of the cloud forest in reciprocity with the farmers and the land.

About Our Farmers

Sustainable Practices

We source cacao from family farms that follow regenerative practices. Cooperative members work closely to ensure no chemicals are used on any farms, ensuring our customers know exactly where their cacao comes from and what is (and is not) in their cacao. Our products are then packaged and shipped in plastic-free, eco friendly materials.

Creating Local Opportunity

We partner with farmers, non-profit groups, and local government entities to help ensure that our cacao producers benefit from higher profits, and gain access to much-needed farm management resources. By choosing Cloud Forest, you are directly supporting the overall success of the farming community we serve, in which profits are invested back into farmer capital, resources, and support.

Follow Our Journey
  • Single origin

Our criolla cacao variety is native to San Martin, Peru. This cacao is grown by seven Quechua communities across the Rio Mayo River Valley. It has a rich, fruity flavor that is unique to the region.

  • Chemical-Free

Our cacao products contain no fillers or sugars, and are minimally processed to allow to experience the essence of ceremonial Peruvian cacao.

  • Know your cacao!

Each batch of ceremonial grade cacao can be tracked back to specific harvest and farms, allowing you to directly connect to the farmers and get to know more about what you are buying.
